NPIC REUNION -- SPRING FLING 2004

(Unofficial Event -- Not Affiliated With Anything!)

AN AFTERWORD

This mailing is being sent to all who responded -- yes, no, or maybe -- to our notice about the NPIC Reunion of 13 June 2004. Without reservation, we feel that it was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS. The day began with showers. This,
unfortunately, discouraged some who would be driving long distances that day to attend the picnic. Happily, the skies cleared and we had very pleasant weather. As you might suspect, our sign-in procedure wasn’t exactly
flawless -- some people may have never signed in -- so the following figures are approximate, but close. There were over 250 attendees representing about 150 families. People came from far and wide: AZ, CA, CO, DC, DE,
FL, IA, MA, MD, ME, MS, NE, NV, PA, SC, TN, VA, and WV. (If we’ve omitted a state which was represented, we apologize.) We were amazed that people were willing to come from such great distances for the reunion.

Once people began arriving, the pavilion and surrounding area were filled with constant chatter!! It was so nice to see old friends and to renew acquaintances. It was very rewarding for the organizers to see such a happy group. It was A LOT OF FUN!!! Although everyone brought food, many said they never got around to eating because they were so busy talking. Yes, it was a great success and it appears that -- by popular demand -- we’ll have to do it again.

On the day of the picnic, there were many willing hands to help us -- setting up in the beginning, posting a variety of lists in the pavilion, and dismantling and cleaning up everything at the end. Thank you to all who gave us such great assistance. We are reluctant to list names for fear of missing someone. You know who you are -- your help was GREATLY appreciated.

DATA BASE: We currently have 755 entries in our data base, which we hope will expand. Unfortunately, 135 of these are deceased. Of the remaining 620, we got responses from 271. Forty-one flyers were returned as undeliverable and we heard nothing from 308.

In addition, if you are in touch with people who you suspect would not be in our data base, please send those names and addresses to dmcmullin@juno.com. Some will undoubtedly be duplicates, but, hopefully, we’ll get some new names.

FINANCES: Our expenses for Spring Fling 2004 included the permit for Carderock, a variety of supplies for the picnic, and the costs associated with printing and mailing flyers. Some of the remaining funds will, of course, be used for this mailing. The balance will provide seed money for our next event.

FUTURE PLANS: We are suggesting a target date of late September/early October of 2005 for our next reunion. This puts us in a roughly one-and-a-half-year cycle for scheduling events. Time, place, and type of activity are under discussion.

WEB SITE: Thanks to Bonnie and Bill Mugford and Bonnie’s son, Andy, we now have a web site. You can access it at:
It is, of course, a “work in progress”. Currently, it contains some photos from the Spring Fling. We would love to add your pictures of the event to the site.

You can send photos via e-mail to: WRMugford@aol.com
CDs, floppies, and hard-copy prints can be mailed to the Mugfords at:

211 176th Terrace Drive E., Redington Shores, FL, 33708. Prints will be returned. In the future, other types of information will be posted on the web site.
SUMMARY OF RECOMMENDATIONS: At the picnic, a blue “RECOMMENDATIONS AND INFORMATION REQUEST” sheet was handed out to help us evaluate the success of the event and to give us ideas for any future reunions.
